Building a pop vinyl collection requires a lot of commitment, effort and in many cases, money. Some figures are in greater demand than others, whereas some are in short supply. Either way, you’ll need to be quick and concise when researching, since many figurines are snatched up in no time. Whether you’re a Star Wars fan, an avid Lord of the Ring’s follower or another franchise that dominated contemporary culture, there are heaps of figures that you can add to your pop vinyl collection. Check out our top 6 below!

#1 Freddie Mercury

Every pop vinyl collection needs to have at least one rocker from the 20th century, and who better than Freddie Mercury. Queen dominated the charts throughout the 70s and 80s, becoming one of the most adored rock bands of all time. Despite Mercury’s death in 1991 and John Deacon leaving the band in 1997, Queen continues to perform and tour to this day (50 years after forming). As a rock icon and music enigma, a Freddie Mercury figurine is a must-have for any pop vinyl collection.

#2 Darth Maul

Regarded as one of the best parts of “The Phantom Menace” (and let’s face it, there weren’t many), Darth Maul is an excellent addition for any figurine assembly. His evocative, memorable face paint, piercing yellow eyes and horned scalp ensure that the ornamental Darth Maul remains one of the most visually aesthetic figurines of your pop vinyl collection.

#3 Dwight Schrute from “The Office”

Coming in at number 3 on our list is the always funny and socially apathetic, Dwight Schrute. Portrayed by Rainn Wilson throughout the show’s nine seasons, Dwight remains one of the most well-known characters from the show. Even if you’re not a fan of the “The Office”, there’s no doubt that Dwight’s goofy spectacles and notoriously bad haircut work well on a figurine model. Coupled with his traditional burgundy suit and yellow salesman shirt (a throwback to the door-to-door salesman of the mid-20th century), Dwight Schrute is a fantastic addition to any pop vinyl collection.

#4 Mr. Bean

Mr. Bean has become an icon of television comedy and wider cinema. Portrayed by Rowan Atkinson, who is known for his work in comedy and Blackadder (1983-1989), Mr. Bean’s character remains one of Atkinson’s most well-known portrayals. Quirky, weird, yet ultimately affable and loving, Mr. Bean’s appearance works well on a small figurine. With his signature mole, dark eyebrows, and of course, his little toy, Teddy, we simply had to include the Mr. Bean model in our list.

#5 Sonic the Hedgehog

Interest in the Sonic franchise exploded in 2020 after the release of the live-action feature film, starring Jim Carrey. Nonetheless, Sonic the Hedgehog emerged during the early 1990s and is credited with putting Sega on the map in the world of 16-bit video game consoles. If you love video games or a throwback to a bygone era of video gaming, then a Sonic the Hedgehog figurine should be next on your list. If you think about it, no pop vinyl collection is truly complete unless it has a video game character somewhere. So, why not make it Sonic?

#6 Harry Potter

Topping off our list is Harry Potter, the protagonist from the greatest selling book series of all time. If there is anything that can rival the intense followings sustained by Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fans, it’s the Potter clan. While you don’t have to choose Harry himself as the figurine for your pop vinyl collection, we’ve gone with the Boy Who Lived in this list. The rich array of supporting characters means you are spoilt for choice – Hermione? Ron? Dumbledore? Neville? The list goes on.
